Dance Collection: Chaplin Poppea//Poppea The Great Mass

Collection of three dance works. In 'Chaplin' (2013) the Leipziger Ballett gives a live performance of Mario Schröder's choreography which interprets how Charlie Chaplin's life influenced his work. Among the dancers featured in the performance are Tyler Galster, Amelia Waller, Urania Lobo Garcia and Alexander Teutscher with Matthias Foremny conducting the accompanying Gewandhausorchester. 'Poppea//Poppea' is choreographer Christian Spuck's ballet with film and dialogue, recorded in 2013 at the Theaterhaus Stuttgart under the direction of Nikolai Vialkowitsch. The ballet portrays the marriage of Roman Emperor Nero and Poppea Sabina, who manipulated her way to the title of Empress. The production is performed by Gauthier Dance and includes music by, among others, Claudio Monteverdi, Martin Donner, Robert Schumann, Emiliana Torrini and Cat Power. In 'The Great Mass', recorded live at the Leipzig Opera, in June 2005, choreographer Uwe Scholz's work is set to music by Mozart, Thomas John, Gyorgy Kurtag and Arvo Pärt. Balazs Kocsar conducts the Gewandhausorchester with dance performances by Kiyoko Kimura, Christoph Böhm, and Oksana Kulchytska.
