While studies have shown that about 30% of family-owned businesses survive the second generation and less than 10% survive the third generation, there is a paucity of research on the causes of the failure rate of family-owned businesses in developing and emerging markets (DEMs). This book examines family-owned business management in DEMs with emphasis on Africa to uncover effective and ineffective strategies.
