Global Cooperation in Times of Crisis

This book concerns possibilities and obstacles to global cooperation in turbulent times, providing critical insight on how notions of sustainable development, crisis, and diplomacy are shaped by changing moods. Global Cooperation in Times of Crisis investigates how mood shapes global cooperation. The book focuses on theorising the role of moods in multilateralism, their specific implications for issues as diverse as migration, media, livelihoods, conflict, and development aid, containing also regional case studies including on China, Russia, the United States, Europe, Turkey, and Brazil. It asks: what became of the global cooperation spirit we saw in 2015, with the adoption of several major international frameworks, including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, and the Paris Agreement on climate change?
