The Tribes and Castes of the Central Provinces of India

"The Tribes and Castes of the Central Provinces of India, Volume III" is a continuation of the comprehensive ethnographic study during the colonial period of the various tribes and castes living in the Central Provinces of India. The book was written by R.V. Russell, who was a British administrator and scholar with a deep interest in Indian society and culture. This section covers a wide range of groups, including the Rajput, Brahmin, and Maratha castes, as well as various tribal communities. On the other hand, the book also focuses on the impact of British rule on the region, including its effects on the local economy, social structure, and culture. It includes discussions of topics such as land tenure, taxation, and the introduction of modern education and healthcare. Hence, "The Tribes and Castes of the Central Provinces of India, Volume III" is an important historical document that provides a detailed look at the diverse societies and cultures of colonial India, as well as the impact of British rule on those societies.
