Turned Boxes

This exciting book contains 18 stunning boxes, devised by professional turner Andrew Potocnik. Boxes are among the most attractive and useful of all turned items and offer the perfect showcase for the maker’s skills. Some are compact enough to hold in the hand, others are beautiful pieces to be put on display.
Each project includes a full list of tools and materials required, so you can make sure that you have what is required before you start work. Measured drawings show all the details you need to know, whether you plan to copy the projects precisely or use them as a springboard for your own original ideas. Step-by-step photographs then allow you to follow Andrew’s techniques as the work takes shape.
A wide variety of native timbers are used that make the most of the striking colours and grain patterns available, but a comprehensive chapter recommends alternative timbers for turners around the world that are great substitutes.
Also included are a selection of boxes with handles and finials of different kinds. Other designs explore the use of colour, either by contrasting wood species or by adding colour to the finished product. With so much to choose from, there is something here to inspire any turner.
