A Gestalt Therapist Teaches in Ukraine

A Gestalt Therapist Teaches in Ukraine offers a narrative description of encounter with the people of Ukraine in wartime and four discussions of the application of post-secular thought to the practice of psychotherapy. In these pages, readers will find a thoughtful exploration of the ways in which an approach influenced by post-secularism can help patients suffering from traumatic loss and grief. What can Gestalt therapists do to facilitate the rebuilding of the life world in recovery if recovery applies to addiction, physical suffering, psychological disorder, and spiritual confusion? What models or examples of faith serve therapeutic process in a post-secular age?A Gestalt Therapist Teaches in Ukraine is theoretically serious without being arid, spiritually honest without being sentimental, and clinically grounded without being simplistic. It speaks to psychotherapists who have sensed that their training left something out. It speaks to scholars of post-secular thought who have not yet seen its implications for clinical practice. It speaks to anyone—practitioner, student, or thoughtful reader—who has suspected that the most important things happening in therapy might be those that cannot be fully explained or measured, that speak about life and seem to arrive suddenly as if from elsewhere.
