But what about their supporters whomade it possible? Benjamin Broomhall, HudsonTaylor’s brother-in-law, was one of the best-known Victorian laymen of his day. Cabinet ministers and members of Parliament knew him for his uncompromisingstand on the questions of slavery and the opium trade, but undoubtedly hisgreatest work was in the service of the China Inland Mission.  He never travelled to China buthad a great influence on God’s work there. He interviewed and sent out several hundred missionaries.
