A Practical Guide to Hypnotherapy with Young Children

A Practical Guide to Hypnotherapy with Young Children provides a comprehensive handbook for delivering hypnotherapy sessions to children aged 5–10 years old. As working therapeutically with young children can be quite different to older client groups, readers will learn a range of skills and tools to be integrated into effective practice. Mapped against the stages of the therapeutic process, chapters explore practice with young children, spanning from the initial point of enquiry through to the end of a treatment plan and closure. Practical resources are integrated throughout to support clinical application, including metaphorical stories, scripts and accompanying guidance notes, exercises, checklists, forms and prompt and activity sheets. Expanding beyond the typical problems a young child might present to a hypnotherapist, attention is also given to topics which are not ordinarily addressed in hypnotherapy texts or training, including experiences of poverty, being a migrant, hate crime or gender identity. This book is essential reading for student hypnotherapists, newly qualified and experienced hypnotherapists, supervisors, trainers and hypnotherapy training schools. It will also be helpful within other therapeutic disciplines, whose therapists may find some of the resources of use in their own type of therapy practice.
