ChaumontsurLoire 20 years of Landscape Creations

At Chaumont-sur-Loire, the gardens transform into vibrant works of living art, guiding visitors on a sensory exploration of time, nature, and creationThe journey begins in a majestic landscape: the gardens of the Domaine de Chaumont-sur-Loire, where nature, art, and history speak to one another in a continuous exchange. Through Chantal Colleu Dumond’s poetic, historically attuned text and Éric Sander’s luminous photographs, this beautifully illustrated volume offers a deeply felt and unprecedented immersion in the estate’s spectacular gardens. The book explores the temporal rhythms that define the estate’s singular gardens: the long time of the historic park, marked by towering cedars, sequoias, and expansive views; the ephemeral time of the International Garden Festival, where daring, imaginative gardens take shape each year as vibrant laboratories of creation; and the intermediate time of the Prés du Goualoup, where enduring landscape traditions—Japanese, Mediterranean, and those drawn from global cultures—continue to flourish. Sweeping photographs showcase the estate’s abundant plant life and the delicate beauty shaped by the seasons, while the Loire River gliding below lends a quiet sense of timelessness. The book offers a transformative encounter with the garden—a place where heritage, creativity, and care for the living world converge.
