Christchurch

<p><strong>This collection of over 200 old photographs and postcards provides a unique and fascinating insight into the recent history of everyday life in Christchurch.</strong> Some of the outlying villages, historically connected with the town, including Mudeford, Highcliffe and Walkford, Hinton, Burton and Winkton, are also featured.</p><p>The photographs, which come from a variety of local sources, are enhanced by carefully researched captions which draw on the knowledge of other local historians and residents and also the now sadly defunct local newspaper, the <em>Christchurch Times</em>. We relive and experience events and times never addressed before in pictorial form. Particular focus is given to the town''s experiences in two world wars, the ever-changing appearance of the streets and buildings, and also to events such as the notable visits of the then future King Edward VII and the Kaiser.</p><p>This book will evoke memories for many and serve as a nostalgic record for all those who love and know this town well.</p>
