"Cop Days", the band's debut for Bronson Recordings, is a defiant, iconoclastic record — openly antagonistic.There comes a moment when the urgency to say something becomes stronger than the urgency to play. For Komarov Magnificent Backflip, that moment arrived in the middle of a decade that seems to leave no choice: geopolitical crises, social fractures, authoritarian drift. More and more, it feels like living in a police state — and music, if it's honest, cannot look the other way.After "Fingerblaster" (2023, self-produced), played up and down the Italian peninsula with frantic Garage Punk, razor-sharp riffs and mosh pits that didn't ask for permission, that formula has evolved: Cop Days brings a sparkling surf element that nods to California, alongside riffs that wouldn't look out of place on classic post-punk records.With "Grotesque" — the album's lead single — the register shifts. Energetic blues-tinged riffs, garage rhythms, harmonised backing vocals and an explosive, triumphant finale. But beneath the surface there's something more disturbed: the scene is that of a head injury, and what emerges is the moment the individual dissolves into the crowd, the group, the mob. The grotesque is born there — in the crisis of the self within a bourgeois society, during an ordinary moment of an ordinary day.
