"Core" is the 8th studio album by Norwegian prog instrumentalists Pymlico. On the way home from a particularly successful concert at "Festival Crescendo" in the south of France in August 2022, keyboard player Øyvind said with great enthusiasm: “For once, let’s really try to have the same line-up on the next record!” Pymlico has always had a rotating lineup, with different musicians involved, but after the release of “Supermassive” in 2022, there’s no doubt that the current seven members - despite a wide age range and varied musical backgrounds – truly works together, both personally and musically. Øyvind’s idea quickly gained traction and developed into a desire to explore what this particular lineup could create without too much external influence. Traditionally, Pymlico has always expanded the crew during recordings, bringing in brass, strings, and other instruments to complement the sound. This time, the band chose to strip away the extra layers and focus on the core – the seven members.
