Fine Food Market’s debut album “Alas Time Has Passed” is an intimate and dynamic folk-pop cocktail narrating a new world.Following a period of big changes—moving out on her own, leaving a long-term relationship, and squaring off her discomfort with solitude—Sophie Perras began looking around and asking, what is left now? She retraces her childhood memories in nine groove-infused vignettes, unintentionally reevaluating all the masculine relationships in her life, familial and romantic.Recorded live off the floor in a cabin in the Laurentian mountains outside Montréal—the album carries the immediacy of its songwriting into the recording process. She experiments with her vocal approach revealing new tonalities to her singing. Trading irony for introspection, she resists the impulse to turn everything into silliness, choosing instead to meet herself head-on.The result is a genre-fluid collection where each song assumes the form it requires—from country-inflected arrangements featuring pedal steel, fiddle, saxophone and a full choir to stripped-back piano ballads.
