Pressed on orange vinyl. - First "official" release in over 50 years.Inspired by the smash hit "Sugar Sugar", by the cartoon pop band The Archies, CBS TV were only too keen to sign-up Don Kirshner's Globetrotters recordings as the soundtrack to the all-new Saturday morning Harlem Globe Trotters cartoon series that ran from 1971-72.The TV series - the album and companion singles - were a huge commercial success and 22 episodes were produced by Hanna-Barbera. It was the first Saturday morning show to feature an African-American cast and the soundtrack was suitably soulful, upbeat and funky. One of the main writers, James Ralph Bailey, was a former member of the Cadillacs and famed for penning songs for Main Ingredient and Isaac Hayes.
