Hurst

A post-apocalyptic survival thriller set in a near-future Britain decimated by an airborne virus, where a medieval fortress becomes the last refuge worth fighting for. Book one of a British dystopian series about scavenged lives, rival factions and the cost of trust. The End of the World Has a Last Refuge. Its Name Is Hurst. Far from the smoking ruins of the cities, Hurst Castle stands alone: a medieval fortress surrounded by the tidal waters of the Solent on the south coast of England. Hurst’s seventy-four occupants scrape a living, scavenging for food and supplies in a lawless society without electricity or government. There's no time to mourn. Survival is all that matters. But they're not alone. Rival groups covet the castle’s closely guarded resources, probing its defences. When a military-led relief operation makes contact, Hurst’s stalwart leader, Jack, faces a desperate choice: set aside their differences and join an alliance that promises hope, or unite against the newcomers and their plans for reconstruction. Jack needs the truth about the Allies. The question is who will give it to him, and what it'll cost to hear it. Hurst is the first book in The Hurst Chronicles, for readers who love post-apocalyptic survival, siege stories and British dystopian fiction. Perfect for fans of A.G.
