Composer of "Blue Bossa," one of the most popular\njazz standards of all time, trumpeter Kenny Dorham\n(1924-1972) was a rather neglected and little-known\nfigure during his lifetime. Decades later, not much has\nchanged. Greatly overshadowed by the stardom of\nDizzy Gillespie, Clifford Brown and Fats Navarro, this\nunderrated bebop giant was nevertheless a highly\ntalented musician who performed with some of the\nmost remarkable players of the era. He recorded with\nBud Powell; was a regular member of the Charlie Parker\nquintet (they toured Paris) and replaced the late Clifford\nBrown in the Max Roach quintet in 1956. Presented\nhere is his splendid quintet LP Inta Somethin', on which\nhe shares the frontline with alto saxophonist Jackie\nMcLean, with whom he would collaborate on two further\noccasions, the 1962 LPs Matador and Hipnosis.
