Johnny Pacheco De Nuevo Vinyl

Released on Concord in 1985, the LP *De Nuevo* brings together nine tracks that document the long-standing musical partnership of Johnny Pacheco & Celia Cruz. The album falls within the realm of salsa with strong influences from guaracha and rumba, and offers a concise running time of around 42 minutes in which infectious rhythms and memorable vocal passages are kept in balance.Style-wise, *De Nuevo* relies on danceable horn lines, driving percussion, and clear lead vocals; Celia Cruz contributes her characteristic vocal timbre with powerful phrasing, while Johnny Pacheco, as bandleader and producer, shapes the arrangements. Standout tracks include the fast guarachas “El Agua de Bonga” and “Barin Barin,” as well as the closing “Historia de una Rumba,” which exemplify the interplay between lead vocal and ensemble.Regarding personnel and production: Johnny Pacheco appears here as producer and percussionist; the arrangements are contributed by, among others, Louie Ramírez, Johnny Rodríguez, and Luis Mangual, complemented by soloists such as pianist Papo Lucca and a seasoned rhythm section with congas, bongos, and bass that gives the album its powerful foundation. The crisp production and meticulously crafted instrumentation make *De Nuevo* a documented chapter in the work of these two salseros.
