Liberty Miniserie DVD

A DR drama series created by siblings Karoline and Asger Leth, and based on the novel by Jakob Ejersbo.

The Danish drama miniseries was first shown on February 25, 2018. The series quickly attracted attention, as this was the first time that DR Drama has produced a TV series based on a novel.

"Liberty" has many international layers, and brings many cultural aspects to light, as the series is a Danish-produced drama, all of which was filmed in South Africa with Scandinavian as well as African actors.

The miniseries "Liberty" takes place in the late 1980s. Two Scandinavian families are stationed in Tanzania in Africa: the Danish family, Knudsen, and the Danish-Swedish family, Larsson. Over the course of the series, the paths of the two nuclear families cross dramatically.

The series portrays two nuclear families under immense pressure as they search for their own paths in a large community of immigrants and Africans, clashing with cultural differences and local resistance. The series follows the families" struggle for prosperity and freedom in an unfamiliar and exotic environment that on the surface seems beautiful and full of opportunity, but which also hides deep corruption and secrets.
