Mark Rober Squirrel Skylab

Explore science Mark Rober-style with 5 aerodynamic action-packed experiments!

Get ready to blast off with CrunchLabs! You’ll launch 5 squirrel-themed experiments with gear inspired and tested by the scientists at Mark Rober’s CrunchLabs. Phat Gus is the most famous squirrel in the world, thanks to Mark Rober’s viral Ninja Warrior-style backyard obstacle course. But what happens when Phat Gus wants to meet SATGUS, the selfie-taking satellite? Phat Gus doesn’t just want a space selfie; she wants to meet Satellite Gus in person. To pull off her most ambitious mission ever, this squirrel will need to learn how to soar, and she needs your help. In this aerodynamics activity book, you’ll explore the science of flight through 5 hands-on engineering challenges, testing what makes things fly faster, farther, and higher while discovering the real physics behind lift, thrust, drag, and stability. Record your experiments and observations in the book, which also includes tons of incredible moments from cutting-edge STEM expert Mark Rober's CrunchLabs!

Launch indoor and outdoor-friendly experiments, includin

Foam Glider Flight School: Learn the basics of pitch, yaw, and roll with 2 easy-to-build gliders.

Advanced Flyers: Build 3 ring-shaped gliders and experiment with shape and size to see what stays stable in the air.

Thrust Lab: Blast foam darts skyward using air pressure and compare how different designs affect speed and height.

Parachute Engineerin Create and test a squirrel-sized parachute for safe reentry.

Chemical Blastoff: Use a fizzy chemical reaction to launch a rocket and send Phat Gus on her final push toward space.

Contains:

Punch-out foam gliders

2 weighted glider heads

Tubing

Launching mechanism

3 foam darts

4 paper straws

Nylon parachute

Blast canister

Sodium bicarbonate

Paper punch-out ring gliders

Poly propylene wings, rocket wrap, and parachute harness
