Metal Camp

A Monumental Live Chapter On Vinyl for the First Time. In the pantheon of American heavy metal, few bands command the same intensity, precision, and conceptual depth as Iced Earth. Known for their thunderous riffs, apocalyptic themes, and soaring vocal work, they’ve forged a unique path through power, thrash, and traditional heavy metal. Now, with the first-ever vinyl release of their 2008 performance at Metal Camp, 7 Mater Records presents a collector’s dream – and a sonic document of the band at its most formidable. Recorded during the Crucible of Man Tour, this set showcases Iced Earth in full warrior mode, unleashing a career-spanning barrage of anthems, from early classics to more recent epics. Pressed in two highly limited vinyl editions: 500 copies on traditional Black 2LP and 500 copies on exclusive Marbled Gold 2LP. Each version comes housed in a luxurious gatefold sleeve with a gold mirror foil print cover – a shimmering tribute to the mythic grandeur of Iced Earth’s musical universe. The gold mirror surface adds an aesthetic elegance rarely seen in live metal pressings – a fitting reflection of the band’s mythic image.Whether displayed or spun, this vinyl feels like a sacred artifact, worthy of any serious metal collector’s shrine. From the moment the opening chords strike, this is not a performance – it’s a battle ritual. The band tears through their setlist with a visceral energy, flawlessly tight and emotionally raw. Jon Schaffer commands his battalion of riffs with iron discipline, while Matt Barlow, freshly returned to the fold, delivers a vocal masterclass, blending righteous fury with operatic drama.Standout moments include: “Burning Times” – a sonic blitz of political angst and galloping momentum, “Declaration Day” – thunders with patriotic defiance, the crowd shouting every word, “The Hunter” – a showcase of Schaffer’s precision riffwork and mid-tempo menace, “Ten Thousand Strong” – pure modern Iced Earth, a call-to-arms with relentless drive, “Dracula” – one of metal’s most cinematic pieces, performed with eerie grandeur, “Watching Over Me” – tearful and triumphant, a ballad soaked in personal grief and glory and “Iced Earth” – the band’s namesake track closes the set with epic finality. This release represents not only a historical live moment for Iced Earth but also an important era of heavy metal where bands like them continued to push the genre’s theatrical, lyrical, and musical frontiers in a world increasingly craving authenticity and vision.Whether you’re a longtime fan or a new listener, Metal Camp on vinyl is a physical gateway into Iced Earth’s dark saga – and one of the most collectible offerings of their discography to date. A triumph for collectors. A revelation for fans. A vinyl release worthy of legends.
