“Miles Davis & John Coltrane – The Complete Columbia Recordings 1955-1961” is a box set originally released in 2000 by Columbia/Legacy. The set contains six discs compiling all the recordings featuring both Miles Davis (trumpet) and John Coltrane (tenor saxophone) during the time that Coltrane played in Miles’ first great Quintet and Sextet. The set documents Miles' first years and first albums on Columbia - October 1955-March 1961and it covers such classic albums as “Kind Of Blue,” “'Round About Midnight,” “Milestones,” “Someday My Prince Will Come,” plus many others. It includes studio sessions as well as live performances: remastered versions of key album tracks, alternate takes, live performances, and previously unreleased material, featuring both artists.
