We are all capable of reaching within ourselves to find the innocence of our youth. No matter what we accomplish in life, we all come from nowhere and we all end up nowhere. But maybe accepting and even embracing this reality can give that much more meaning to the moments in between. For all of the places we go, the people we meet, and the experiences we have as we move through life, we are all essentially still just curious children wondering what we mean to the world. Everyone’s a kid at heart, we just dress the part.Formed in the wake of a series of bands that explored everything from dark, heavy rock to polished, indie twang, Mountain of Youth—and its album debut, Nowhere, NW (out 5/15/26), emerges as a sort of equilibrium state for Hunter Morris, balancing his breezy heartland and lo-fi garage influences with his ’70s folk and ’90s grunge sensibilities. The songs are mature and reflective, reckoning with loneliness, regret, and mortality, and the performances are raw and vulnerable to match, with lean, muscular arrangements centered around Morris’s gritty guitars and live vocal takes.
