NORWEGIAN FOLK TALES were collected and published in the mid 19th century by Peter Christian Asbjørnsen (1812-1885) and Jørgen Moe (1813-1882). The folk tales were early on illustrated by our leading artists, and contributed to the development of a national identity. The book contains 35 of the most wellknown folk tales, such as: White-Bear-King-Valemon, Little Freddie and his Fiddle, The Seventh Father of the House, The Princess who Always had to have the Last Word.

This is a book for adult readers interested in a fascinating and defining part of Norwegian culture, as well as children who will find themselves introduced to the world of trolls and gnomes, of witches and magic, and not least that of the beguiling Ash Lad. Asbjørnsen and Moe's folk tales today have an international status comparable to that of the brothers Grimm and H. C. Andersen. This edition is therefore published simultaneously in a Norwegian and an English version, the latter in Pat Shaw's praised translation.

The book (printed) are sold in most book stores and tourist shops, and you can order it from: www.flaaronning.com</p
