CRYPTIC SHIFT unveiled their debut full-length Visitations From Enceladus in 2020, earning international acclaim for its adventurous fusion of progressive, technical death/thrash metal. The album introduced the band to a worldwide audience and established their signature sound, a twisted and futuristic strain of extreme metal they describe as “Phenomenal Technological Astrodeath.” Their new album Overspace & Supertime builds directly upon the conceptual and musical foundations of the debut, pushing both ambition and execution further. Expanding the band’s progressive songwriting and technical intensity, the record delivers a heightened level of precision while remaining deeply rooted in fantastical, sci-fi storytelling. Conceptually, Overspace & Supertime unfolds as an alternative reality to the events of Visitations From Enceladus, following the central character into unfamiliar dimensions filled with greater adventures and increasingly bizarre encounters. As the narrative scope grows, so too does the band’s commitment to fully integrating story and sound into a cohesive Astrodeath experience. Produced by Jack Helliwell and mastered by Greg Chandler (Esoteric, My Dying Bride), the album also features striking artwork by Jesse Jacobi, visually reinforcing its cosmic themes.
