Poland and Asia

Containing fourteen chapters by leading Indian and Polish specialists, this volume provides a comprehensive overview of Poland’s presence, role, and profile in Asia. It examines Poland’s multifaceted economic and political relations, as well as defence cooperation, with its key Asian strategic partners—China (2011), South Korea (2013), Japan (2015), and India (2024). The book also discusses Poland’s interactions with Central Asia, Vietnam, the Philippines, and regional organizations such as ASEAN and ASEM. It makes an in-depth analysis of the Asian diaspora in Poland. Filling a long-felt gap in the available literature on Poland-Asia relations, this well-researched book examines mutual perceptions, the complexity, the elements of convergence and divergence as well as the challenges and prospects of Poland’s relations with Asia. He was Alexander von Humboldt Foundation Fellow/Professor at the universities of Constance, Freiburg, Leipzig, and Tübingen and Science and Politics Foundation (SWP), Ebenhausen (1995). He has been the first Jean Monnet Chair in India and Adjunct Research Professor, Monash European and EU Studies Centre, Melbourne (2010-2015). He has most recently published India and Europe in a Changing World (2023) and India and Germany in a Turbulent World (2024).
