Psychologies of Anti-Fascism

This book serves as an exploration into the neo-fascist turn in the world, both at the macro-political level and the micro-affective level of the diffracted mind. The aim is to promote dialogue about both the political and ontological assemblages implicated in this turn and build hope about the possibilities of resistance and liberation. The book extrapolates theory and practice in this regard, asking how fascist machines emerge and what an anti-fascist psychology might look like. It also includes examples of emplaced fascisms and anti-fascisms in Greece, Australia and Italy, psychogeographic case studies in resistance. This is an exploration, not an answer, a snapshot of becoming that doesn’t end. It provides a clear primer on these models, interviews leading practitioners and tells stories of hope and transformation. Centring the importance of activist practice built on liberation psychology, the book will be essential for clinical practitioners, psychotherapists, counsellors and psychiatrists. It will also be of interest to postgraduate students and researchers in the fields of psychology, qualitative inquiry, politics and sociology.
