BITOI, Bass Is The Original Instrument, interweaves the timeless instrument of voice with the relatively new instrument of electric bass. After rave reviews from the band's debut concert at the Intonal Festival, BITOI has captured the attention of audiences around the world. The project has one foot in tradition while challenging the boundaries of what is possible both as musicians and composers.‘With BITOI, we have tried to bring together the electric bass and the voice into one larger, unified instrument by redefining the traditional roles and sounds of the instruments. The music may sound simple, but it is incredibly demanding as it asks questions that are rarely asked. But through these questions, we also discover new answers and new music we have not encountered before.’BITOI's lyrics are based on the phonetic pronunciation of bird calls. Bird whistles, vocal cord beats and wind sounds are all part of BITOI's rich soundscape. The band creates a transformative experience during their concerts, guiding the audience through a captivating musical journey. Their debut EP, ‘-O-’, released in 2023, was a first presentation where both the music and visual expression exuded a combination of vulnerability and power.
