Someone Else Is Waiting for Me, Elsewhere

The true story of the passionate affair between Marguerite Yourcenar, the first woman elected to the Academie Francaise, and Jerry Wilson, a young photographer forty-six years her junior. Captivating, subversive, and wildly romantic. At the turn of the 1980s, all eyes were on Marguerite Yourcenar, the author of Memoirs of Hadrian. Yet, what did we really know about her? That she was living in the United States, that she had just lost her partner, the American Grace Frick… At nearly seventy-six, Yourcenar seemed to have nothing left to look forward to in life. Her encounter with Jerry Wilson would change everything. With this thirty-year-old gay American photographer, a love affair began as unexpected as it was destructive—the final passion of a great lady of letters and a great lover.
