Stabscotch

A legal crime thriller with a slow-burning romance, in which a death on a quiet California shoreline drags prosecutors into a cross-border financial case. Tense and morally murky, with cybercrime, banking intrigue, an inscrutable foreign investigator and divided loyalties. A murder tied to global finance drags the DA’s office into a game no one is meant to win. When a young cybersecurity analyst is found dead on a tranquil California beach, Detective Tommy Vietti expects the feds to snatch up the case. Instead, he and DA Amanda Hawthorne are requested to work with an unexpected partner: Roxanne “Roxy” MacNeil, a sharp-edged Scottish banking investigator whose authority, methods, and true purpose remain deliberately unclear. As the case pulls Amanda and Tommy from San Francisco into the shadowy intersection between banking, intelligence agencies, and organized crime, the stakes escalate beyond anything either of them can foresee. What begins as a single homicide exposes a financial crime so sensitive that silence becomes policy—and justice negotiable. But the danger isn’t only professional. Roxy’s presence unsettles more than the investigation. Amanda’s relationship with her fiancée, Dr. Jen Dawson, fractures under the weight of secrets, ambition, and a temptation Amanda knows she should avoid—but may not. In a world where truth is rationed and loyalty is currency, one wrong move can cost a career, a family, or a life. Stabscotch is the third book in The San Francisco Mystery Series, a legal and crime thriller where politics, power, and desire collide—with consequences no one walks away from unscathed.
