Strawberry Moon A Mediterranean Crime Mystery

An atmospheric Málaga private investigator mystery in which an apparent double suicide refuses to add up. Mediterranean crime fiction about closed communities, official indifference and a detective who challenges the official story. An atmospheric Málaga mystery of forbidden relationships, buried truths, and a detective willing to challenge the official story. Two young lovers are found dead near a Málaga beach, but JD doesn’t believe they took their own lives. On Midsummer’s Eve, the bodies of two young gypsies are found in a solitary spot near a beach in Málaga. It looks like a double suicide—a lovers’ pact to end it all—and the police are quick to close the case. But Jacaranda Dunne, a female private investigator known to everyone as JD, thinks otherwise. When a cousin of the dead girl asks JD to investigate, he tells her the young man was gay and the girl was pregnant—both reasons to despair when you are a gypsy, but not to commit suicide. The investigation proves more difficult than usual. JD and her team face resistance from the gypsy community and little cooperation from a recalcitrant Guardia Civil commander. At first there seems to be no motive for killing the two young people, but gradually some unpleasant truths begin to emerge. Strawberry Moon is Book 3 in The Jacaranda Dunne Mysteries series.
