Tetris B Mountaingoat

Jana Schulz (b. 1984; lives and works in Berlin) initiates encounters on film and in photographs with men previously unknown to her, in which intimacy emerges in the process of shootin performative, shared, situational. She observes structures and dynamics within social groups, enriching her documentary approach by integrating fictional elements.With her works, she explores the inner world of male relationships; in that spirit, her most recent photographic series raises questions about masculinity on the threshold of adult life. At its center stands a portrait of the South African Bathenkosi Sphesihle Luphalule, his play with common role models and the search for his true self.
