The Book of Nanas

Hello and welcome to THE BOOK OF NANAS. You don't have to be a Nana to read this, you might be a Nana-in-waiting, you MIGHT be a Grannie, a Gee Gee, a Gan Gan (how very royal), a Gram, a Nannie, a Nona... Whatever you call her, pull up a chair, put the kettle on and let's talk Nanas. ***We all have a Nana, whether we ever met her or not - and Nanas come in all shapes and sizes... Maybe yours kept Liquorice Allsorts in the teapot or knitted you terrible cardigans. She may have snogged a Beatle or taken you to bingo instead of helping with your homework. Perhaps she was your emotional safe space, kept your secrets and fed you crumpets. Or maybe she was a crabby old boot. The Book of Nanas is a celebration of all things Nana, as experienced first-hand by Jenny Eclair and Judith Holder. From the terrifying alien newborn to the gibbering potty-training toddler and beyond, this book explores the glorious, messy, exhausting business of grandmothering when you're really too fat for a playground slide. Plus, a bonus chapter of funny, mad and moving stories from fellow Nanas proves that every family has a Nana with a story worth telling. In 2022, they both became grandmothers within months of each other and found themselves catapulted back into nappy land. After years juggling careers and family life, they happily admit that being a Nana feels like a glorious second chance. Jenny: "I wouldn't swap it for a really well-paid afternoon TV quiz show." Judith: "Liar."
