Da Lindberg ble diagnostisert i desember 2023 var bandet godt i gang med å jobbe fram et nytt album. For å være sikker på å komme i mål,spilte Lindberg inn all vokal dagen før han skulle legges på operasjonsbordet –førresten av albumet ble innspilt. Albumet,The Ghost of a Future Dead, har nå vært ferdigstilt en liten stund, og er klart for utgivelse 24. april. Tilbake i besetningen er Anders Björler, som sammen med bror Jonas Björler har skrevet musikken til det nye albumet. Tekstene er forfattet av Lindberg.The eighth studio album by melodic death metal masters and pioneers of the 'Gothenburg sound', At the Gates,The Ghost of a Future Dead, contains twelve tracks and lasts forty-two minutes.It was recorded and mixed by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios (Kreator, Amon Amarth, Opeth, etc.). The album artwork is by Robert Samsonowitz.
