The Gospel of Job

A radical new exploration of the Old Testament and what it means to develop a sense of GodUsing the Bible as his basis (in particular the Book of Genesis and the Book of Job) Jasun Horsley confronts the idea of a personal God, and the human propensity to hold God responsible for what happens to us. Through the book’s poignant analysis of scripture, alongside insight gained from Horsley’s personal relationship with God throughout his life, The Gospel of Job posits essential questions about the nature of suffering and belief, as well as the place of God and the Bible in the modern world. In its bold assessment of the Word of God, The Gospel of Job unpicks the fundamental complexities of what it means to be human, and begins a vital debate on how we can better understand scripture as a catalyst for an ongoing, living encounter with the divine mystery.
