The Unseen Battle

The late Dr. Michael Heiser once said: "The Bible has some pretty strange things in it--things that are hard to believe, especially in our modern world." The Unseen Battle addresses some of these "stranger things" in the Bible. Joel Muddamalle uses Paul's supernatural household framework--the idea that God has both a supernatural and a human family--to clearly explain the cosmic worldview of the Bible.Weaving through the Old and New Testaments, his approach tells the story of the ongoing spiritual war and Christ's victory over dark powers, answering questions like:Did God really consult a council of divine beings--the sons of God--throughout the Old Testament? How do the principalities and dark powers mentioned by Paul relate to the gods of the Old Testament? Are the "gods" of the nations real beings or just a figment of the imagination of ancient people groups? Were the Nephilim the offspring of angelic and human women? What is the actual prize of the unseen battle and how does it play out in our lives today? What does it mean in Deuteronomy 32 when it says God divided the nations according to the number of the sons of God?Can Christians become "demon-possessed?"Do we have a role to play in the unseen battle?Cutting through the noise of conspiracy theories and fanaticism, the theological framework in The Unseen Battle will give readers a balanced understanding of the biblical writers' original messages on spiritual warfare, and equips Christians to make sense of evil powers, what God is doing in the world today, and the part we play in it.
