<p>DURING THE AGE OF DISCOVERY, in the autumn of 1550, an anonymously authored volume containing a wealth of geographical information new to Europeans was published in Venice under the title <i>Navigationi et Viaggi </i>(<i>Journeys and </i><i>Navigations</i>).
