Trauma ADHD and Child Protection

ADHD is an increasingly common diagnosis, and is far more prevalent among children in care than the general population. The symptoms of ADHD intersect significantly with trauma responses, and it can be challenging for child protection professionals to form a full picture of a child''s challenges and needs. When a child is seen to be lacking in focus, ADHD may be the first line of enquiry, but for child protection professionals, more questions may need to be asked. Is it ADHD or an overactive threat response? What might be causing a child''s emotional dysregulation?
