Trouble In Dreams

Dan Bejar's tenth album as Destroyer is a worthy addition to his canon, and further evidence of his knack for a literate pop song. Particularly notable here are Bejar's lyrics (as with most of his albums), which are as cryptic as they are subtle and humorous. Musically, 'Trouble In Dreams' treads a similar path as previous records, with bombastic piano arrangements augmenting a traditional rock line-up. The scope is somewhat expanded here, and songs regularly feature extensive structural elaborations, as exemplified by the dramatic centrepiece 'Shooting Rockets'.
