Teaching Digital Citizenship in 10 Minutes a Day A Guide to K8 Screen Time

Teaching Digital Citizenship in 10 Minutes a Day is a practical resource for educators seeking to help students in grades K–8 make the best out of their screen time. Many children who grew up with access to personal internet-connected technologies do not separate their device use from their learning, social interactions, and self-image, whether in class or at home. How can we provide them and their parents with the skills for appropriate, responsible, and ultimately positive experiences with these tools? This foundational guide to digital citizenship is built from a nine-element model that turns concepts such as commerce, communication, etiquette, security, and more into bite-sized teaching principles. The book also includes definitions of key terms, ready-to-use quizzes for children, concrete ideas for parents, recommended readings, and more. Regardless of how devices fit into your school’s policy, you’ll find in this book a new way to help your elementary and middle schoolers become their best digital selves.
